Summary:
Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district.
Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Installation Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.
Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district.
Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
Install and configure software as needed.
Assist with the installation maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment.
Equipment Repair and Maintenance Diagnose and repair equipment including printers, terminals, and personal computers.
Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.
Safety Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, carrying, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
Other Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
Maintain confidentiality.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in meetings and special events as assigned.
Exercise professional judgment in absences; be punctual to work, meetings, and appointments.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
None EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES/
Experience:
Associates in Computer Maintenance or related field.
Two years work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental relations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of computer workstation setup (identify requirement-i.
e, Novell workstation).
Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
Ability to use hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations.
Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals including printers, modems, and scanners.
Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware.
Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs.
Ability to use phones, two-way radio, personal computer, printer, fax, and other computer peripherals.
Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret policy, procedures and data.
Ability to perform duties and comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and sit.
Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of the telephone and computer are required.
Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment are required of this employee.
